Little by little, he set the rhythm and left his competitors behind him one by one.

After an impressive attack on the Col du VAM halfway through the race, Hermans was able to extend his lead to 15 seconds. With the support of the home crowd, Dutchman Lars van der Haar managed to catch up with the Belgian with two laps to go. He overtook Hermans and beat the Belgian by 25 seconds. Despite his difficult start, Kevin Kuhn kept fighting and finished the race in 14th place.
